Here we are at our Daughter of Liberty and Daughters First Annual Extravaganza!! Looking forward to other gatherings where we can discuss, ponder and solve ALL the problems facing humanity! (and eat REALLY good food at the same time. . .)
My soul standeth fast in that liberty in the which God hath made us free. Alma 61:9
From our church leaders:
A democracy requires men and women to be agents unto themselves to defend their freedom. When a democracy collapses, it is because the individuals and families are dropping their arms. What are the usual symptoms? First, there is a feeling of fear, then resignation, then we get used to the worst. “To get used to” is a horrible phrase, to say the least. To get used to violence, to degradation, to mediocrity, to oppression, to humiliation. History is a great teacher if we are willing to learn. It teaches us that anarchy and permissiveness always lead directly to the dictatorship of sin, to the submissiveness of our spirits, to the slavery of our bodies. Elder Charles Didier
Quotes to Ponder
The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776
But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever. John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775
At the time of the American Revolution, the “Daughters of Liberty” were a group of women actively engaged in bringing attention to the oppression of the British Crown. These valiant women were recognized as heroines for their resourcefulness in helping to make the colonies less dependent on the British. Our purpose in gathering in this century is to: Educate ourselves regarding the principles upon which this nation was founded.
Discuss the issues of the day as they apply to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Learn about all that we can do to educate our families, friends, and representatives in the government regarding the proper role of government. To foster and promote feelings of hope in the future of this great country.
